# Instantiate a template

`POST /api/v1/templates/{template_id}/use`

## Request

Clones a template into a new working document pre-filled with its frozen defaults. Free — duplication never re-runs analysis, so it does not debit the page quota. The new document starts in state filling.

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or invalid API key.
- `404`: Resource not found.
