# Create a model (local pod or remote connector)

`POST /models`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://localhost:8080/api/v1`
- URL: `https://localhost:8080/api/v1/models`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Creates a model deployment. deployment_type=local starts a pod and registers a LiteLLM route asynchronously (202 Accepted). deployment_type=remote registers an external endpoint connector synchronously (201 Created).

  - `component_type` string, required: ComponentType is a catalog component type whose providers have `category: models` (see the component's metadata.yaml); the valid values come from the catalog.
  - `deployment_type` 'local' | 'remote', required
  - `model` string, required
  - `name` string, required
  - `params` object
  - `profile` string
  - `provider_id` string, required
  - `worker_name` string

## Response `201`

Remote model connector created

- `202`: Local model deployment initiated
- `400`: Invalid request body or validation errors
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `404`: Provider or worker not found
