# Move a file from the media library to the trash

`DELETE /media/{id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.hypamoon.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://api.hypamoon.com/api/v1/media/{id}`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP bearer
  - OAuth 2 (authorization code, authorization URL `https://app.hypamoon.com/oauth/authorize`, token URL `https://api.hypamoon.com/oauth/token`, scopes: `sites:write`)

The file goes to the trash for 30 days: PATCH with restore: true puts it back, GET /media with include_deleted shows it. After 30 days it is deleted for good, and the stored bytes are removed once nothing refers to them anymore. The trash counts toward the storage of the project; the owner can empty it in the portal. Refused with 409 conflict while a site uses the file (sites lists which, and under which path): remove it from the site first.
