# Get the AWS storage external ID

`GET /v1/storage-destinations/aws-external-id`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://hcti.io`
- URL: `https://hcti.io/v1/storage-destinations/aws-external-id`
- Auth: HTTP basic

Returns the current organization's external_id and HCTI writer_role_arn for configuring an AWS IAM role trust policy. Use external_id as sts:ExternalId and writer_role_arn as Principal.AWS. No storage destination ID is required.

**Rate limit:** 100 requests per minute per organization, shared across all operations in the `storage-destination:read` group and all API keys belonging to that organization.

## Response `200`

OK

- AwsStorageExternalId: The organization's external ID and HCTI writer role ARN for an AWS IAM role trust policy.
  - `external_id` string: Use this value for sts:ExternalId in the IAM role trust policy that grants HCTI access to your S3 bucket.
  - `writer_role_arn` string: Use this HCTI writer role ARN as Principal.AWS in the IAM role trust policy that grants HCTI access to your S3 bucket.
