# Estimate the foods in a photo

`POST /api/meals/foods/recognize`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.hiyd.ai`
- URL: `https://api.hiyd.ai/api/meals/foods/recognize`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Returns search-hit shaped candidates for the foods visible in an image, so the client can reuse the normal pick-and-import flow. Currently DORMANT: the provider account has no image-recognition scope, so this answers 503 image_recognition_unavailable.

## Response `200`

Candidate foods, most prominent first (NOT ranked by confidence)

## Other responses

- `400`: No image, or the image was unreadable
- `503`: Photo estimates are not enabled for this deployment
