# Create Patient Prescription

`POST /provider/patients/{patient_id}/prescriptions`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.sandbox.hint.com/api`

- Auth: API key in header `AUTHORIZATION`

Records an order/send event with a persisted medication snapshot. Later medication edits do not update
this snapshot.
This endpoint does not track fulfillment, dispensing, or remaining refills; refills are the number
authorized at order time.
Use medication endpoints to migrate historical medication data, rather than creating prescription events.
Nested medication data has no medication ID or lifecycle fields. Find the current chart entry through
List Patient Medications.

- `patient_id` string, required

## Request body

- ProviderPatientsPrescriptionsControllerCreateBody
  - `rx_id` string, required: The prescription identifier in the partner system.
  - `medication` object, required: The medication being prescribed. Accepts the same fields as Create Patient Medication, without the integration record fields.
  - `quantity` integer: The quantity prescribed. Must be a positive integer (at least 1) when supplied.
  - `refills` integer: The number of refills authorized. Must be a non-negative integer (0 or greater) when supplied; 0 means no refills.
  - `event_timestamp` string, date-time: The time the prescription was written.
  - `integration_record_id` string
  - `integration_error_message` string
  - `integration_web_link` string
