# Join a tournament as a referee

`POST /v1/referee/join`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.hify.club`
- URL: `https://api.hify.club/v1/referee/join`
- Auth: API key in header `X-User-Token`

Accepts an access code to join a tournament as a referee. The current authenticated user is registered as a referee for the tournament matching the access code. Returns the referee record. Fails if the access code has expired.

## Request body

- object
  - `referee` object, required
    - `access_code` string, required: Tournament access code (e.g. ABC12), with or without the HIFY- prefix, in any case

## Response `200`

Referee joined successfully

- TournamentReferee
  - `id` integer
  - `tournament_id` integer
  - `user` object: Serialized user object

## Other responses

- `400`: Missing, blank or non-text access code
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `404`: Invalid access code — no tournament found
- `422`: Access code has expired
