# Delete a Voice

`DELETE /v3/voices/{voice_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.heygen.com`
- URL: `https://api.heygen.com/v3/voices/{voice_id}`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `x-api-key`
  - HTTP bearer

Deletes a voice clone you own and frees its place in your clone limit. A voice used by a template cannot be deleted. An unknown or already-deleted voice returns 404 `voice_not_found`; treat that as success in delete-then-list flows.

## Path parameters

- `voice_id` string, required

  - `data` VoiceDeleteV3Response: Response for DELETE /v3/voices/{voice_id}.
    - `voice_id` string, required: ID of the deleted voice.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid request parameters
- `401`: Authentication failed
- `403`: Forbidden
- `404`: Resource not found
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded
