# Health check

`GET /v1/status`

## Request

Returns API serving status, per-component health, non-serving subsystem detail, version, and current server timestamp. The top-level status reflects the request-serving path only.

    - `status` 'operational' | 'degraded' | 'unhealthy', required: Serving-path status only: 'operational' means API requests are serving normally even if non-serving subsystems (scrapers, freshness pipelines) are degraded — those report under `subsystems`. 'degraded'/'unhealthy' are reserved for the components that affect request serving (database, redis).
    - `status_message` string, required: Human explanation — says whether API request serving is affected (only database/redis degradation affects serving); names any degraded non-serving subsystems.

    - `components` object, required: Per-component status. Neutral labels; billing = payment processing subsystem.
