# Estimate

`POST /models/{model}/estimate`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.hedra.com/v3`
- URL: `https://api.hedra.com/v3/models/{model}/estimate`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `Authorization`
  - HTTP bearer

Return what `POST /v3/models/{model}` would charge for this `input`.

Validates `input` against the model's input schema and returns the price in
US dollars. Creates no job, charges nothing, and does not check the wallet
balance. The response includes no completion time: a job's
`estimated_completion_at` appears on the submit response, on
`GET /v3/jobs/{job_id}/status`, and on `GET /v3/jobs/{job_id}/stream`.

## Path parameters

- `model` string, required: The model's public id (`GET /v3/models`).

## Request body

- EstimateRequest
  - `input` object: The same model-specific inputs a submit would carry; the estimate prices exactly this body.

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- EstimateResponse: The price, in US dollars, of submitting the request's `input` to the model.
  - `model` string, required: The resolved model id this estimate prices.
  - `cost` number, required: The price of submitting the request's `input` to the model, in `currency`, after any discount negotiated for the key's workspace.
  - `list_cost` number, nullable: The model's list price for the same request, in `currency`, before any negotiated discount; equal to `cost` when none applies.
  - `discount_percent` number, nullable: The negotiated percentage off the model's list price that `cost` reflects, e.g. 20 or 12.5; null when none applies.
  - `currency` string, required: ISO-4217 currency code for `cost`.

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid or failed-validation request.
- `401`: Authentication failed: missing, malformed, or invalid credentials.
- `403`: Insufficient scope or plan.
- `404`: Resource not found.
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded.
- `500`: Internal error.
