# Attach a PDF (ACORD, loss runs, supplement)

`POST /broker/submissions/{submission_id}/documents`

## Request

Multipart upload, PDF only, 15 MB max per file. Uploaded applications
are auto-extracted into the submission brief. To answer an ask from
`GET .../asks` with a document, send its `key` as `ask_key`: a loss
run uploaded on `specialty_loss_runs:{line}` is stored as that line's
loss run and satisfies the ask.

  - `ask_key` string: The key of the ask this document answers
  - `document_type` 'loss_run' | 'nkll' | 'application' | 'acord_form' | 'supplemental_application' | 'supplemental' | 'narrative' | 'replacement_cost_estimate' | 'owner_resume': Implied by `ask_key` when omitted
  - `lines` string[]: Lines of business the document covers; implied by a per-line `ask_key`

- `400`: Not a valid PDF
- `413`: PDF is over the 15 MB limit. Split the package or compress the PDF.
- `422`: A document type a broker may not assert
- `429`: Daily upload limit reached
