# Find a LinkedIn profile by email

`GET /linkedin/profile-by-email`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.harvestapi.io`

- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Find the LinkedIn profile of the person behind a work email address (reverse email lookup).

## Query parameters

- `email` string, email, required

## Response `200`

Profile by email response

- object
  - `element` ProfileByEmail
    - `id` string, required: LinkedIn profile ID
    - `publicIdentifier` string, nullable: The part of the profile URL after /in/. Null when the profile was found in our database and its public identifier is not known; `linkedinUrl` then uses the profile ID
    - `linkedinUrl` string, uri, required
    - `name` string: Only when the profile was found by the search, like `position`, `location` and `photo`. A profile found in our database comes with its ID and URL only
    - `position` string: The profile's headline
    - `location` object
      - `linkedinText` string
    - `photo` string, uri
  - `status` integer
  - `error` string
  - `query` object
    - `email` string: The email address looked up, lowercased
    - `companyId` string: ID of the LinkedIn company found for the email domain. Only when the profile was searched
    - `companyUniversalName` string: Universal name of that company

## Other responses

- `400`: The `email` parameter is missing or is not a work email address with a name: personal email addresses (`gmail.com`, `outlook.com`, ...) and role addresses such as `info@` are rejected
- `404`: No profile found. The `error` text says why: no LinkedIn company has a website on the email's domain, or no matching person was found
