# Get a signed upload URL

`GET /uploads/new`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://www.happyscribe.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://www.happyscribe.com/api/v1/uploads/new`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`

Returns a signed URL that accepts a `PUT` request with your media file, uploading
it directly to HappyScribe's S3 storage. Once uploaded, use this same URL as the
media `url` on `POST /transcribe` or `POST /subtitle`.

## Query parameters

- `filename` string, required

## Response `200`

A signed URL ready to receive a PUT upload.

  - `signed_url` string: Signed S3 URL. PUT your file here, then pass this URL as the media `url` on `POST /transcribe` or `POST /subtitle`.

## Other responses

- `401`: Your API key is missing (`missing_api_key`) or wrong (`invalid_api_key`), or it may not access this resource (`unauthorized`).
