# Health Check

`GET /api/health`

## Request

Check API health status.

Returns a simple status message confirming the API is running.
This endpoint requires no authentication and is suitable for
uptime monitors and load-balancer health probes.

Declared ``async`` on purpose: a synchronous handler is dispatched to
the shared anyio threadpool, so it queues behind whatever long screens
already hold the threads. During the 05/10/2026 ISR burst the probe
answered in 36 s and the autoheal restarted a healthy API. Answering on
the event loop keeps the probe truthful about the process being alive
even when every request thread is busy; this handler must therefore stay
free of blocking work.
