# Get Provenance

`GET /api/filings/{symbol}/provenance`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.halalterminal.com`
- URL: `https://api.halalterminal.com/api/filings/{symbol}/provenance`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Compliance provenance for a ticker: which filing carried which verdict
figure, and how that figure moved.

For each financial filing (10-K/10-Q/20-F/40-F) matched to its reporting
period, returns the verdict-driving figures, the self-contained ratios
(debt/assets, cash/assets, interest/revenue), the change versus the prior
period, and any methodology cap the change crossed. Market-cap-basis
ratios are intentionally excluded (a past period cannot be judged against
today's market cap); the on-verdict debt/MC covers that separately.

## Path parameters

- `symbol` string, required: Ticker symbol, e.g. AAPL.

## Query parameters

- `limit` integer: Max filings to return provenance for.

## Response `200`

Per-filing compliance provenance: figures and ratio deltas

- `401`: Authentication required
- `404`: Company or filing not found
- `422`: Validation Error
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded — SEC EDGAR enforces strict rate limits
