# Stop a running investigation

`POST /v1/investigations/{investigationId}/stop`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://docs.grepr.ai` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)

- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `GREPR-API-KEY`
  - OpenID Connect (`https://grepr-prod.us.auth0.com/.well-known/openid-configuration`)

Durably marks a running investigation as STOPPING and returns 202. An asynchronous reconciler signals the workflow, which pauses at its next turn boundary and records STOPPED; it can then be resumed with a message.

- `401`: Unauthorized
- `404`: Investigation not found
- `409`: Investigation is not running
