# Create a portal category

`POST /portal-categories`

## Request

- Base URL: `/management/v2/environments/DEFAULT` (relative, and the document was published on a file host, not at the API’s origin)
- URL: `/management/v2/environments/DEFAULT/portal-categories`
- Auth: one of:
  - HTTP basic
  - API key in cookie `Auth-Graviteeio-APIM`

User must have the ENVIRONMENT_DOCUMENTATION[create] permission.

## Request body

- CreatePortalCategory: Portal category to create
  - `title` string, required: The title of the portal category
  - `description` string: The description of the portal category
  - `visible` boolean: Whether the portal category is visible on the portal

## Response `201`

Portal category created

- PortalCategory: A Portal Next category, used to group APIs on the New Developer Portal
  - `id` string, uuid, required: The unique ID of the portal category
  - `title` string, required: The title of the portal category
  - `description` string: The description of the portal category
  - `visible` boolean: Whether the portal category is visible on the portal

## Other responses

- `409`: A portal category with the same title already exists in this environment
- `default`: Generic error response
