# Run Work Routine Now

`POST /work/routines/{routine_id}/run`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1/work/routines/{routine_id}/run`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Run one routine immediately, as the caller's own message.

Deliberately not the scheduled path: the instruction is posted into the
delivery conversation as this credential's message and the normal turn
machinery answers it, so a run-now exercises exactly what a live ask would —
approvals and all. An event routine may carry a ``sampleEvent`` to run
against; it is treated as data, never as instructions.

## Path parameters

- `routine_id` string, uuid, required: Routine id

## Headers

- `Authorization` string, nullable
- `X-Target-Org-Id` string, nullable

## Request body

- WorkRoutineRunNowRequest: An optional sample event to run an `event` routine against.
  - `sampleEvent` object, nullable: Example event payload; treated as data, never as instructions. `event` routines only.

## Response `201`

Successful Response

- ApiResponseWorkRoutineRunResult
  - `data` WorkRoutineRunResult, required: A run-now receipt: what was posted, and where to watch it finish. The run is asynchronous — the instruction is posted immediately and the agent answers in the background — so this returns the ledger id to poll rather than the answer. ``status`` is ``running`` here and moves to ``ok`` or ``failed`` on the row this points at.
    - `runId` string, nullable: Ledger id of this manual run
    - `status` string, nullable: Always `running` on this response
    - `messageId` string, nullable: The message the run posted
    - `conversationId` string, nullable: Where it was posted
    - `startedAt` string, nullable: When the run started
    - `runsPath` string, nullable: Developer API path to poll for this run's outcome
  - `pagination` PaginationMeta
    - `page` integer, required: Current page number (1-indexed)
    - `limit` integer, required: Items per page
    - `total` integer, required: Total number of items
    - `has_next` boolean, required: Whether there are more pages
    - `next_cursor` string, nullable: Opaque cursor for the next page; null when there are no more items. Pass it back as the `cursor` query param to fetch the following page without computing page numbers.
    - `total_available` integer, nullable: Search endpoints only: how many records really match, when known. Can be larger than `total`, which is capped at the 10,000 results that can be paged. For company search this is a distinct-company estimate. Null when unknown; absent outside search.
    - `total_is_lower_bound` boolean, nullable: Search endpoints only: true when more records match than `total` shows (the result set is larger than the 10,000 results that can be paged). Absent outside search.
    - `notes` string[], nullable: Search endpoints only: plain-language notes about the result, e.g. that more records match than can be paged, or that a reversed `between` range was put in order.
