# Set Sequence Status

`POST /sequences/{sequence_id}/status`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1/sequences/{sequence_id}/status`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Drive the status machine directly. PREFER THE NAMED TRANSITIONS.

`/launch`, `/pause`, `/resume`, `/terminate` and `/archive` each run the
wind-down, scheduling and event work that belongs to them. This endpoint
only SETS THE STATUS, so a sequence moved to `terminated` this way never
emits its termination event and its workers are never wound down. It is
exposed because the app exposes it and a rebuilt settings panel uses it -
not because it is the way to stop a sequence.

The app's state machine rejects an illegal transition.

## Path parameters

- `sequence_id` string, required: Sequence id.

## Headers

- `Authorization` string, nullable
- `X-Target-Org-Id` string, nullable

## Request body

- SequenceStatusRequest: Drive the sequence status machine directly. Prefer the named transitions (`/launch`, `/pause`, `/resume`, `/terminate`, `/archive`) - each runs the wind-down, scheduling and event work that belongs to it. This endpoint SETS THE STATUS, and the app's state machine is what rejects an illegal transition.
  - `status` string, required: Target status: drafted, scheduling, live, pausing, paused, resuming, terminating, terminated, completed or waiting. Declared as an open string rather than an enum so a status the sequencer adds is not rejected by a stale copy here - the app's own `SequenceStatus` enum is the source of truth and an unknown value comes back as a 422 that LISTS the valid set.

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- ApiResponseSequenceRecord
  - `data` SequenceRecord, required: One sequence, as the lifecycle endpoints return it.
    - `id` string, nullable
    - `name` string, nullable
    - `status` string, nullable
    - `sequence_kind` string, nullable
    - `is_shared` boolean, nullable
    - `is_archived` boolean, nullable
    - `user_email` string, nullable: Owner.
    - `associated_list_id` integer, nullable
    - `campaign_builder_campaign_id` string, nullable: Linked Studio campaign, if any.
    - `created_at` string, date-time, nullable
    - `updated_at` string, date-time, nullable
  - `pagination` PaginationMeta
    - `page` integer, required: Current page number (1-indexed)
    - `limit` integer, required: Items per page
    - `total` integer, required: Total number of items
    - `has_next` boolean, required: Whether there are more pages
    - `next_cursor` string, nullable: Opaque cursor for the next page; null when there are no more items. Pass it back as the `cursor` query param to fetch the following page without computing page numbers.
    - `total_available` integer, nullable: Search endpoints only: how many records really match, when known. Can be larger than `total`, which is capped at the 10,000 results that can be paged. For company search this is a distinct-company estimate. Null when unknown; absent outside search.
    - `total_is_lower_bound` boolean, nullable: Search endpoints only: true when more records match than `total` shows (the result set is larger than the 10,000 results that can be paged). Absent outside search.
    - `notes` string[], nullable: Search endpoints only: plain-language notes about the result, e.g. that more records match than can be paged, or that a reversed `between` range was put in order.
