# Update Newsletter Settings

`PUT /newsletters/{newsletter_id}/settings`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1/newsletters/{newsletter_id}/settings`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Set the sender identity and the opt-in policy.

Set `double_opt_in_intent` rather than `double_opt_in`: the active flag the
send pipeline reads is promoted automatically once the domain is verified
and a sender address exists, and writing the active flag directly asks for
a state the pipeline is not ready for.

## Path parameters

- `newsletter_id` string, uuid, required: Newsletter id (UUID).

## Headers

- `Authorization` string, nullable
- `X-Target-Org-Id` string, nullable

## Request body

- UpdateNewsletterSettingsRequest: Who a newsletter sends as, and how strict its opt-in is.
  - `sending_domain` string, nullable: Must be verified first - see `settings/verify-domain`.
  - `default_sender_name` string, nullable
  - `default_sender_email` string, nullable
  - `default_reply_to` string, nullable
  - `double_opt_in` boolean, nullable: The ACTIVE double-opt-in flag the send pipeline reads. Legacy: a `true` written here is routed to `double_opt_in_intent` and the active flag is auto-promoted once the domain and sender are ready.
  - `double_opt_in_intent` boolean, nullable: The REQUEST for double opt-in, independent of readiness. Set this rather than `double_opt_in` - it is promoted automatically.
  - `skip_unverified_subscribers` boolean, nullable
  - `auto_verify_on_import` boolean, nullable

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- ApiResponseNewsletterPayload
  - `data` NewsletterPayload, required: An open envelope for a newsletter, an issue, a template or a send row.
  - `pagination` PaginationMeta
    - `page` integer, required: Current page number (1-indexed)
    - `limit` integer, required: Items per page
    - `total` integer, required: Total number of items
    - `has_next` boolean, required: Whether there are more pages
    - `next_cursor` string, nullable: Opaque cursor for the next page; null when there are no more items. Pass it back as the `cursor` query param to fetch the following page without computing page numbers.
    - `total_available` integer, nullable: Search endpoints only: how many records really match, when known. Can be larger than `total`, which is capped at the 10,000 results that can be paged. For company search this is a distinct-company estimate. Null when unknown; absent outside search.
    - `total_is_lower_bound` boolean, nullable: Search endpoints only: true when more records match than `total` shows (the result set is larger than the 10,000 results that can be paged). Absent outside search.
    - `notes` string[], nullable: Search endpoints only: plain-language notes about the result, e.g. that more records match than can be paged, or that a reversed `between` range was put in order.
