# Get Field Value

`GET /fields/{column_id}/values`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1/fields/{column_id}/values`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Read a single custom column value for one contact or company row.

The read-side counterpart of ``PATCH /fields/{column_id}/values``. Resolves
``column_id`` to the underlying ``column_name_db`` from ``dynamic_columns``
(scoped by ``object_type`` so a contacts column can't be read through the
companies path), then selects that one value from ``mashup_contact_attrs``
(or ``mashup_company_attrs`` for companies).

Returns ``value: null`` when the column exists but has never been set for
that row. Returns 404 when the column or the record does not exist.

Backwards-compat: this is a brand-new route; no existing surface changes.
Custom column VALUES are also surfaced inline on the contact/company read
endpoints when ``include_custom_fields=true`` is passed.

## Path parameters

- `column_id` integer, required: Column ID from g8_list_fields or g8_create_field

## Query parameters

- `record_id` integer, required: Contact ID (entity='contacts') or company ID (entity='companies')
- `entity` string: Target entity: 'contacts' or 'companies'

## Headers

- `Authorization` string, nullable
- `X-Target-Org-Id` string, nullable

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- ApiResponseGetFieldValueResponse
  - `data` GetFieldValueResponse, required: Response body for reading a single custom column value from one row.
    - `column_id` integer, required
    - `record_id` integer, required
    - `entity` string, required
    - `name` string, required: The underlying column slug (column_name_db).
    - `value` string, nullable: The stored value as text, or null if the column is unset for this row. Number and yes/no columns are returned in text form ('42', '12.5', 'true'/'false'); read `typed_value` for the native JSON value.
    - `data_type` string, nullable: The column's data type, the same value `GET /fields` reports in `data_type`: 'text', 'int', 'numeric' or 'boolean'.
    - `typed_value` union: The stored value in its native JSON type: a number for 'int' and 'numeric' columns, true/false for 'boolean' columns, a string for text columns. Null when the column is unset for this row.
      - boolean
      - integer
      - number
      - string
  - `pagination` PaginationMeta
    - `page` integer, required: Current page number (1-indexed)
    - `limit` integer, required: Items per page
    - `total` integer, required: Total number of items
    - `has_next` boolean, required: Whether there are more pages
    - `next_cursor` string, nullable: Opaque cursor for the next page; null when there are no more items. Pass it back as the `cursor` query param to fetch the following page without computing page numbers.
    - `total_available` integer, nullable: Search endpoints only: how many records really match, when known. Can be larger than `total`, which is capped at the 10,000 results that can be paged. For company search this is a distinct-company estimate. Null when unknown; absent outside search.
    - `total_is_lower_bound` boolean, nullable: Search endpoints only: true when more records match than `total` shows (the result set is larger than the 10,000 results that can be paged). Absent outside search.
    - `notes` string[], nullable: Search endpoints only: plain-language notes about the result, e.g. that more records match than can be paged, or that a reversed `between` range was put in order.
