# Create Deal Column

`POST /deals/columns/create`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1/deals/columns/create`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Add a custom column.

`list_id` null creates a GLOBAL column, visible on every deals grid in the
org. That is the wider blast radius of the two, so it is what you get by
omission only because it is the app's own default.

The path is `/columns/create` rather than a POST to `/columns`, matching
the app exactly - a different spelling here would be a second way to say
the same thing.

## Headers

- `Authorization` string, nullable
- `X-Target-Org-Id` string, nullable

## Request body

- CreateDealColumnRequest: Add a custom column to the deals grid.
  - `title` string, required: Display name.
  - `data_type` 'text' | 'int' | 'numeric' | 'number' | 'boolean' | 'date': Closed to what the app accepts. It validates this inside the handler, so a free string would raise there and escape as a 500 instead of a 422 naming the valid types.
  - `list_id` integer, nullable: Scope the column to one list. Null creates a GLOBAL column.

## Response `201`

Successful Response

- ApiResponseDealPayload
  - `data` DealPayload, required: An open envelope for a deal, a merge preview or a column result. Open because the crossfire and merge-preview payloads are computed shapes that grow with the product, and a closed model would drop a field from an ADVISORY read - where a missing signal reads as "nothing to worry about" rather than "we did not tell you".
  - `pagination` PaginationMeta
    - `page` integer, required: Current page number (1-indexed)
    - `limit` integer, required: Items per page
    - `total` integer, required: Total number of items
    - `has_next` boolean, required: Whether there are more pages
    - `next_cursor` string, nullable: Opaque cursor for the next page; null when there are no more items. Pass it back as the `cursor` query param to fetch the following page without computing page numbers.
    - `total_available` integer, nullable: Search endpoints only: how many records really match, when known. Can be larger than `total`, which is capped at the 10,000 results that can be paged. For company search this is a distinct-company estimate. Null when unknown; absent outside search.
    - `total_is_lower_bound` boolean, nullable: Search endpoints only: true when more records match than `total` shows (the result set is larger than the 10,000 results that can be paged). Absent outside search.
    - `notes` string[], nullable: Search endpoints only: plain-language notes about the result, e.g. that more records match than can be paged, or that a reversed `between` range was put in order.
