# Merge Deal

`POST /deals/{deal_id}/merge`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1/deals/{deal_id}/merge`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Merge `secondary_id` into this deal. NOT REVERSIBLE.

The secondary deal stops existing; its contacts, notes and activity move
onto the survivor. `field_overrides` is the only way to keep a value from
the deal being merged away.

Preview it first. There is no unmerge.

## Path parameters

- `deal_id` string, required: The deal that SURVIVES.

## Headers

- `Authorization` string, nullable
- `X-Target-Org-Id` string, nullable

## Request body

- MergeDealRequest: Merge one deal into another. THE SECONDARY DEAL STOPS EXISTING. `secondary_id` is the deal merged AWAY; the deal in the path survives. Preview it first with `GET /deals/{deal_id}/merge/preview` - that call says exactly which field values change and which records move.
  - `secondary_id` string, required: The deal to merge AWAY. Must be a UUID; the path deal survives.
  - `field_overrides` DealFieldOverride[]: Decide individual fields yourself instead of taking the app's rules.
    - `field` string, required
    - `winner` 'primary' | 'secondary', required
  - `trigger` 'manual' | 'queue' | 'bulk_criterion': What prompted the merge. Recorded on the audit row.
  - `suggestion_id` string, nullable: The duplicate-suggestion this merge acts on, if any.

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- ApiResponseDealPayload
  - `data` DealPayload, required: An open envelope for a deal, a merge preview or a column result. Open because the crossfire and merge-preview payloads are computed shapes that grow with the product, and a closed model would drop a field from an ADVISORY read - where a missing signal reads as "nothing to worry about" rather than "we did not tell you".
  - `pagination` PaginationMeta
    - `page` integer, required: Current page number (1-indexed)
    - `limit` integer, required: Items per page
    - `total` integer, required: Total number of items
    - `has_next` boolean, required: Whether there are more pages
    - `next_cursor` string, nullable: Opaque cursor for the next page; null when there are no more items. Pass it back as the `cursor` query param to fetch the following page without computing page numbers.
    - `total_available` integer, nullable: Search endpoints only: how many records really match, when known. Can be larger than `total`, which is capped at the 10,000 results that can be paged. For company search this is a distinct-company estimate. Null when unknown; absent outside search.
    - `total_is_lower_bound` boolean, nullable: Search endpoints only: true when more records match than `total` shows (the result set is larger than the 10,000 results that can be paged). Absent outside search.
    - `notes` string[], nullable: Search endpoints only: plain-language notes about the result, e.g. that more records match than can be paged, or that a reversed `between` range was put in order.
