# Update Contact

`PATCH /contacts/{contact_id}`

Update a contact's fields (partial update).

Company link (both optional; a contact may have no company): ``company_id``
attaches an EXISTING company (mashup_companies.id) directly; ``company_domain``
resolves-or-creates a company from its domain. ``company_id`` wins if both
are given. Every other field is a plain column update. Provide any subset;
at least one field (plain or company) is required.

    - `total_is_lower_bound` boolean, nullable: Search endpoints only: true when more records match than `total` shows (the result set is larger than the 10,000 results that can be paged). Absent outside search.
    - `notes` string[], nullable: Search endpoints only: plain-language notes about the result, e.g. that more records match than can be paged, or that a reversed `between` range was put in order.
