# Get App Runtime

`GET /apps/{app_id}/runtime`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1/apps/{app_id}/runtime`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Can this app be built and run yet, and if not, what is missing (M9 J9).

ANSWERS FROM THE CONTROL PLANE, AND SAYS SO. It reports what graph8 has
recorded: a bound source, an assigned hostname, declared secrets, the last
deployment's state. The serving half -- namespace provisioner, registry
credentials, and the deployed-image rollout -- now EXISTS as control-plane code
(#22301), so this no longer blocks on it unconditionally. What it still checks
is whether that code is CONFIGURED in this environment (`_unset_serving_runtime_vars`):
reporting `ready: true` with the templates or registry credentials unset would
be the most expensive kind of wrong, because a builder would push and wait for
something nothing can serve.

`blockers` is the field that matters. An agent driving a build needs to know
WHY it cannot proceed; a bare `ready: false` sends it guessing, and guessing
against a deploy pipeline is how you get retry loops.

Deliberately cheap: three reads the caller could make themselves across
`GET /apps/{id}`, `/secrets` and `/deployments`. It exists so the answer is
computed in one place, because "am I ready" is a judgement about which
prerequisites matter, and three clients would each get it slightly wrong.

## Path parameters

- `app_id` string, required

## Headers

- `Authorization` string, nullable
- `X-Org-Id` string, nullable

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- ApiResponseAppRuntimeResponse
  - `data` AppRuntimeResponse, required: Whether an app is ready to be built and run, and what is missing (J9). A READINESS REPORT, not a promise. It answers from what the control plane knows: is a source bound, is a hostname assigned, are secrets declared, what did the last deployment do. It does NOT claim the cluster side is ready, because the namespace provisioner, the image registry and the runtime objects are separate work and none of them exist yet. `blockers` is the useful field and it is deliberately explicit. An agent driving a build needs to know WHY it cannot proceed, and a bare `ready: false` sends it guessing.
    - `app_id` string, required
    - `ready` boolean, required: True only when nothing in `blockers` remains. False is the normal answer today.
    - `source_bound` boolean, required
    - `hostname_assigned` boolean, required
    - `secrets_declared` integer, required
    - `latest_deployment_status` string, nullable
    - `blockers` string[]: Each unmet prerequisite, named. Empty means ready.
  - `pagination` PaginationMeta
    - `page` integer, required: Current page number (1-indexed)
    - `limit` integer, required: Items per page
    - `total` integer, required: Total number of items
    - `has_next` boolean, required: Whether there are more pages
    - `next_cursor` string, nullable: Opaque cursor for the next page; null when there are no more items. Pass it back as the `cursor` query param to fetch the following page without computing page numbers.
    - `total_available` integer, nullable: Search endpoints only: how many records really match, when known. Can be larger than `total`, which is capped at the 10,000 results that can be paged. For company search this is a distinct-company estimate. Null when unknown; absent outside search.
    - `total_is_lower_bound` boolean, nullable: Search endpoints only: true when more records match than `total` shows (the result set is larger than the 10,000 results that can be paged). Absent outside search.
    - `notes` string[], nullable: Search endpoints only: plain-language notes about the result, e.g. that more records match than can be paged, or that a reversed `between` range was put in order.
