# Get Deployment Logs

`GET /apps/{app_id}/deployments/{deployment_id}/logs`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1`
- URL: `https://be.graph8.com/api/v1/apps/{app_id}/deployments/{deployment_id}/logs`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Why a build failed.

Returns every step of the build pod in the order Kubernetes runs them --
fetch, scan-source, build, scan-image, then push -- because "which step" is
most of the answer. A step that has not started is omitted rather than
returned empty, so a build in progress reports what exists so far.

An empty `containers` list means the build pod is gone or was never created.
Build pods are reaped an hour after they finish (`ttlSecondsAfterFinished`),
so logs for an older deployment are genuinely unavailable rather than hidden;
`last_error_sanitized` on the deployment is what survives.

`redacted` is always true and means graph8's credential patterns were applied.
It is NOT a claim the output is safe to publish: this is a customer's own
build output and it can print a secret in a shape no pattern matches.

## Path parameters

- `app_id` string, required
- `deployment_id` string, required

## Query parameters

- `tail_lines` integer: Lines per build step, newest last.

## Headers

- `Authorization` string, nullable
- `X-Org-Id` string, nullable

## Response `200`

Successful Response

- ApiResponseAppLogsResponse
  - `data` AppLogsResponse, required: Logs for one app or one of its builds. ``redacted`` is always true and means only that graph8's credential patterns were applied. It is NOT a claim the output is safe to publish: these are a customer's own build and application logs, and an application can print a secret in a shape no pattern matches.
    - `app_id` string, required
    - `deployment_id` string, nullable: Set for build logs. `null` for the running app's logs.
    - `namespace` string, required: The app's own Kubernetes namespace. Derived from the app id, never supplied.
    - `tail_lines` integer, required: Lines requested per container, after clamping to the server maximum.
    - `redacted` boolean
    - `containers` ContainerLogResponse[]
      - `pod` string, required
      - `container` string, required
      - `kind` 'init' | 'container', required
      - `text` string, required
      - `truncated` boolean: The tail hit the per-container byte cap. Earlier output exists and was not returned.
  - `pagination` PaginationMeta
    - `page` integer, required: Current page number (1-indexed)
    - `limit` integer, required: Items per page
    - `total` integer, required: Total number of items
    - `has_next` boolean, required: Whether there are more pages
    - `next_cursor` string, nullable: Opaque cursor for the next page; null when there are no more items. Pass it back as the `cursor` query param to fetch the following page without computing page numbers.
    - `total_available` integer, nullable: Search endpoints only: how many records really match, when known. Can be larger than `total`, which is capped at the 10,000 results that can be paged. For company search this is a distinct-company estimate. Null when unknown; absent outside search.
    - `total_is_lower_bound` boolean, nullable: Search endpoints only: true when more records match than `total` shows (the result set is larger than the 10,000 results that can be paged). Absent outside search.
    - `notes` string[], nullable: Search endpoints only: plain-language notes about the result, e.g. that more records match than can be paged, or that a reversed `between` range was put in order.
