# Provide the credential the assistant asked for.

`PUT /ai/conversations/{public_id}/secrets/{secret_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `/api` (relative, and the document was published on a file host, not at the API’s origin)

## Path parameters

- `public_id` string, required
- `secret_id` string, required

## Request body

- FillSecretRequest
  - `value` string, password, required: A credential. Write-only: it is never returned, and the AI assistant supplies it through a secret slot instead of typing it into the conversation.

## Response `200`

Credential stored; the response never includes it

- SecretSlotView: What a slot looks like to the console and to the model: everything except the value.
  - `conversation_id` integer, required
  - `created_at` string, date-time, required
  - `expires_at` string, date-time, required
  - `field` string, required: JSON pointer of the request field the value is for.
  - `filled_at` string, date-time, nullable
  - `id` string, required: The id inside the handle (`secret_ref:v1:<id>`).
  - `label` string, required: What the form asks for.
  - `operation_id` string, required
  - `status` string, required: `awaiting`, `filled`, `cancelled` or `expired`.

## Other responses

- `400`: Empty or oversized value
- `401`: Unauthorized
- `403`: Insufficient permissions
- `404`: Conversation or secret request not found
- `409`: The request was cancelled or already closed
- `410`: The request expired
- `500`: Internal server error
