# Get a country

`GET /countries/{code}`

## Response `200`

The item.

- Country: An ISO 3166-1 country. Every field is present unless `fields[countries]` asks for fewer; `currency` only with `include=currency`.
  - `alpha3` string
  - `calling_code` string, nullable: The E.164 country calling code; null where there is none.
  - `code` string, required: ISO 3166-1 alpha-2.
  - `currency` Currency: An ISO 4217 currency. Every field is present unless `fields[currencies]` asks for fewer.
    - `code` string, required
    - `minor_unit` integer: Digits after the decimal point: an amount in minor units is the amount times 10 to this power.
    - `name` string
    - `symbol` string: The English symbol (Unicode CLDR); the code when there is none.
  - `currency_code` string, nullable: The currency in use; null where there is none.
  - `name` string
  - `numeric_code` string
  - `region` 'Africa' | 'Americas' | 'Asia' | 'Europe' | 'Oceania' | 'null', nullable: The UN M49 continent; null for Antarctica.

## Other responses

- `304`: Not changed since the ETag in `If-None-Match`; no body.
- `400`: A parameter is wrong, unknown or out of range.
- `401`: No token, or the token is wrong, expired or revoked.
- `404`: No such item, or not one this token may see.
- `429`: Over the rate limit; wait `Retry-After` seconds.
- `500`: Something failed on the server.
