# (BETA) Delete an existing AILake Database instance

(BETA) Deletes an existing database in the organization's AI Lake. A database that still contains tables is not deleted, unless cascade is set. With cascade, every table in the database is dropped first, which cannot be undone. Returns an operation-id in the operation-id header the client can use to poll for the progress.

## Path parameters

- `instanceId` string, required: Database instance identifier. Accepts the database name (preferred) or UUID.

## Query parameters

- `cascade` boolean: Drop every table in the database before the database itself.
