# Import partial metadata

`POST /gdc/md/{project_id}/maintenance/partialmdimport`

**Request body parameters**

* `token` (string) specifies the token for the project that you want to import. This token is created during export of partial metadata.

* `overwriteNewer` (boolean, optional) specifies whether imported objects should overwrite newer versions of those objects in the target project (`1`) or not (`0`; default).

* `updateLDMObjects` (boolean, optional) specifies whether to update logical data model objects (`1`) or not (`0`; default).

* `importAttributeProperties` (boolean, optional) specifies whether to import drill-down attribute settings and label types from the partial export (`1`) or not (`0`; default).

* `preserve` (string, optional) preserves the values of variables in the target project.
     * `all` specifies that all variables in the target project will be preserved.
     * `none` specifies that no variables in the target project will be preserved. The variables in the target project will be overwritten by the master variables.
     * `exact` specifies that only a specific set of variables in the target project will be preserved. Specify the variables to preserve in the `exactPrompts` parameter.

* `exactPrompts` (only when `preserve` is set to `exact`) specifies an array of identifiers of the variables to be preserved.

      - '0' | '1': (default false) clone following attribute properties: * for attribute - import drillDownStepAttributeDF setting * for attributeDisplayForm - import type setting it also implies 'updateLDMObjects = true' for all mentioned types; it will not reliably work (can fail) for exports without 'exportAttributeProperties = true'
