# Validate the mapping between a Data Source and a logical data model

`POST /gdc/dataload/dataSources/{dataSourceId}/buildModelMapping`

Validate the mapping between the tables and views of the specified Data Source and the logical data model of a project.</br>
The API returns the link to poll for the results of the model mapping.</br>
**NOTE:** Only Data Source users can validate the model mapping.</br>
**Request body parameters**</br>
- `projectId` (string) specifies the ID of the project that you want to validate the mapping against.
- `datasets` (array of string) lists the datasets that you want to validate the mapping against.

## Request body

- InputModelMapping
  - `modelMappingRequest` object, required: The mapping between the tables and views of the specified Data Source and the logical data model of a project.
    - `projectId` string, required
    - `datasets` string[], required

## Response `202`

Accepted - create new model mapping async task

- NewAsyncTask: New taskman async task used in all new API resources. It contains `links` element in plural which complies with our API rules.
  - `asyncTask` object, required
    - `links` AsyncTaskPollLink, required
      - `poll` string, uri, required: URI of the polling resource

## Other responses

- `403`: Forbidden - if current user is not the owner of the data source
