# Get thousands and decimal separators for a specified user

`GET /gdc/account/profile/{userId}/settings/separators`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://secure.gooddata.com`
- URL: `https://secure.gooddata.com/gdc/account/profile/{userId}/settings/separators`
- Auth: none declared

Returns the thousands and decimal separators for the specified user.

The separators define how numbers are displayed on the GoodData Portal (for example, `1'234,12` or `1.234,12`). By default, the thousands separator is set to `,`, and the decimal separator is set to `.` (as in `1,234.12`).

You must be a domain admin to retrieve the separators for another user. If you are not a domain admin, you can retrieve the separators only for your user.

## Response `200`

The thousands and decimal separators for the specified user are successfully returned. If no custom separators have been set for this user, the default thousands and decimal separators (`,` and `.`, respectively) are returned.

    - `decimal` string, required: The decimal separator
    - `links` object: Self link
      - `self` string, uri, required: Self link

## Other responses

- `403`: The API call failed because the user making this call is not a domain admin. Only a domain admin can retrieve the separators for another user. A user who is not a domain admin can retrieve only their own separators.
- `404`: The API call failed because the specified user does not exist.
- `default`: Common error
