# List document categories

`GET /document_categories`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app2.gettruss.io/api/v1`
- URL: `https://app2.gettruss.io/api/v1/document_categories`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

The document types a task can be filed under - "W-2", "1099-INT", "Schedule C" and so on. The list is global rather than per firm, so it is reference data: read it once and use an id as document_category_id when creating or updating a task. Ordered as the app displays them.

## Response `200`

successfully returns every document category

    - `id` integer
    - `name` string: Machine name, e.g. "w_2"
    - `display_name` string: Human label, e.g. "W-2"
    - `position` integer: Display order.
    - `start_reminding_date` string, date, nullable

- `403`: missing the projects_read scope
