# Dashboard multipart initiate

`POST /v1/dashboard/assets/upload/initiate`

## Request

- Auth: API key in cookie `socialclaw_dash_session`

Starts a multipart asset upload when S3 storage is available.

## Request body

- MultipartUploadInitiateRequest: Starts a multipart upload session for dashboard uploads when S3 storage is enabled.
  - `filename` string, required: File name. Also accepted as name.
  - `size` integer, required: Expected file size in bytes.
  - `mime` string, nullable: MIME type.

## Response `201`

Successful response.

  - `mode` string, required: multipart when S3 upload is used, otherwise base64.
  - `maxAssetBytes` integer: Base64 fallback max bytes.
  - `asset` Asset: SocialClaw-managed media asset.
    - `id` string, required: Asset id.
    - `tenantId` string, nullable: Workspace id.
    - `storage` string, nullable: Storage driver.
    - `objectKey` string, nullable: Internal object key.
    - `originalFilename` string, nullable: Original file name.
    - `mime` string, required: MIME type.
    - `kind` 'image' | 'video' | 'audio' | 'other', required
    - `size` integer: Size in bytes.
    - `status` string, nullable: ready, uploading, draft, pending_delete, or provider-specific state.
    - `publicUrl` string, uri, nullable: Public delivery URL.
    - `preview` object, nullable: Thumbnail, poster, or preview URLs.
    - `createdAt` string, date-time, nullable: Creation time.
  - `upload` object
    - `uploadId` string: Multipart upload id.
    - `partSize` integer: Recommended part size.
    - `totalParts` integer: Total expected parts.
