# Delete a contact field

`DELETE /v1/sites/{site_id}/contact-fields/{field_id}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.getsitecontrol.com`
- URL: `https://api.getsitecontrol.com/v1/sites/{site_id}/contact-fields/{field_id}`
- Auth: HTTP bearer

Deletes a custom contact field. Contacts keep their values of the field.
Segment conditions on it stop matching anyone. Widget forms and integrations
that use the field are not checked. A field created later with the same name
gets the same id and shows those values again, as in the admin.

## Path parameters

- `site_id` integer, required
- `field_id` string, required: Field id from `list_contact_fields`

- `400`: Unsupported GSC-Version
- `401`: Missing or invalid API key or access token
- `403`: Access denied
- `404`: `field_not_found`: no custom field with this id on the site; system fields are not found here
- `422`: Validation failed
- `429`: Rate limited
- `503`: Temporarily unavailable; retry later
