# Update playtable

`PATCH /api/playtables/{sid}`

## Request

Rename a table, edit its description, or replace config (full-replace of the Value). name is re-checked against the (team_sid, name) guard - 409 duplicate_rejected if taken. Toggling config.auto_run affects only FUTURE row inserts; already-present rows need an explicit run (playtable-runs). sid, team_sid and the two default-view pointers are read-only (silently rejected). At least one field required, else 422 nothing_to_update.

- MCP tool `update_playtable`, registry package `mcp.playtables/playtables`, mount `playtables.tables`.
- Operation `update`, response envelope `update`.
- Flags: none.

- `sid` string, required: Playtable sid (pt_tb_…).

## Request body

- UpdatePlaytableRequest: Request body of `update_playtable`.
  - `name` string: New table name (1..255), unique per team.
  - `description` string, nullable: null resets the description.
  - `config` object: Full-replace of the config Value.
    - `auto_run` boolean, required: When true, action fields fire automatically on rows entering the table (empty→queued). Default false.
  - `agent_sid` string, nullable: Pick the AI SDR for this table (ub_ag_…); null = back to the team's default. Reaches the table's open threads at their next turn.

    - `actor_type` string, nullable: user | agent | api_key | system. Null when unauthenticated; absent from pre-2026-08-20 backends.

## Other responses

- `4XX`: MCP error envelope. `error.code` is one of validation_failed, nothing_to_update, not_found, relation_not_found, invalid_transition, limit_exceeded, payment_required, duplicate_rejected, conflict, delete_blocked, unauthorized, forbidden, rate_limited, not_implemented.
- `5XX`: MCP error envelope with `error.code` internal_error or service_unavailable.
