# Send an incident event

`POST /incidents/events`

## Request

Send an event from an external system, as a JSON object of at most 128 KiB, to be matched against the workspace's monitors. Resending the same body within five minutes returns the same `eventId`.

## Headers

- `X-Orchestra-Account-Id` string, uuid4, nullable

## Request body

- object: An event from an external system, as whatever JSON object that system emits. No field is required or interpreted: monitors pick out the values they match and group on with jsonpath. The body must be an object because those paths are resolved against one.

## Response `202`

Successful Response

- ExternalEventResponse: The id of an accepted event. There is no incident id: the event is only queued here, and it is matched to a monitor and grouped into an incident afterwards.
  - `eventId` string, uuid, required

## Other responses

- `422`: Validation Error
