# Rate an assistant message

`POST /v1/chat/messages/{messagePublicId}/feedback`

## Request

- Auth: HTTP bearer

Runs `chat.setMessageFeedback` (public — guests vote too, authorized by the guest `sessionToken`). Assistant messages only. `type` is the vote; `category` and `reason` carry the thumbs-down detail and are optional, so a bare vote is a valid body. Re-posting a different `type` replaces the previous vote rather than stacking.
