# Create

`POST /v2/issuers/{organizationId}/children`

## Request

Create a child organization by cloning the parent and overriding specified fields. An 8-digit numeric ID is generated automatically. The name is required, must contain at least two letters or numbers, and may contain only letters, numbers, and spaces.

## Request body

- OrganizationsChildrenCreateChildRequestBody: Request body for creating a child organization
  - `data` OrganizationsChildrenCreateChildRequestData, required: Child organization data structure for creation
    - `type` 'organization', required: Resource type identifier
    - `attributes` OrganizationsChildrenCreateChildAttributes, required: Attributes for creating a child organization. Only name is required. All other fields are optional and default to the parent organization's values.
      - `name` string, required: Name of the child organization (at least two letters or numbers; letters, numbers, and spaces only)
      - `externalId` string: External identifier for the child organization
      - `bins` string[]: Bank Identification Numbers for the child organization

  - `id` string, required: Unique identifier of the child organization
  - `attributes` OrganizationsChildrenChildOrganizationAttributes, required: Limited set of child organization attributes exposed to external consumers
    - `name` string, required: Name of the child organization (at least two letters or numbers; letters, numbers, and spaces only)
    - `externalId` string: External identifier for the child organization
    - `bins` string[], required: Bank Identification Numbers for the child organization

## Other responses

- `400`: Error response with status 400
- `401`: Error response with status 401
- `403`: Error response with status 403
- `409`: Error response with status 409
- `429`: The issuer's traffic grew faster than its allowed rate, or the endpoint's own limit was reached. If the response includes a `Retry-After` header, wait that many seconds before retrying. See [Rate Limits](/2024-10-01/api/integration-guides/rate-limits).
- `500`: Error response with status 500
