# Send Message

`POST /api/send_message`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.getdot.ai` (the document declares no server; this is the origin it was published from)
- URL: `https://app.getdot.ai/api/send_message`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-API-KEY`
  - API key in cookie `Authorization`
  - OAuth 2 (password, token URL `/api/auth/token`)

Send a message as Dot to Slack or email, for automations such as a scheduled script.

Admin only. Recipients stay inside what the workspace already reaches: Slack channels the
Dot bot is in, and DMs or email to workspace members (email also follows the allowed-domain
policy). Every recipient is resolved before anything is sent. A refusal is a 4xx whose
`detail` is {"code", "message"}; the message says what to fix. A 502 `delivery_failed`
lists each recipient's outcome in `detail.results`, so a retry with the same
idempotency_key reaches only the ones that failed.
