# Attach an image

`POST /ask/image`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.getchord.xyz/v1`
- URL: `https://api.getchord.xyz/v1/ask/image`
- Auth: one of:
  - API key in header `X-API-Key`
  - HTTP bearer

Uploads one image for a question (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF first frame; ≤ 12 MB). It is re-encoded as a JPEG no wider or taller than 2048 px, with its metadata (EXIF, GPS) removed, and kept 30 days. Send the returned `id` in `images` of `POST /v1/ask`. 30 uploads per 10 minutes per caller.

  - `height` integer
  - `bytes` integer

## Other responses

- `400`: Invalid parameters — `error` names the check that failed (`INVALID_PARAMS`, `BAD_ADDRESS`, `BAD_LIMIT`, `BAD_HOURS`, …).
- `401`: Missing or unknown credential (`UNAUTHORIZED`).
- `429`: Over the per-minute limit (`RATE_LIMIT_EXCEEDED`). Read `X-RateLimit-Reset` and back off.
- `503`: The lane behind this endpoint is not ready or not enabled here (`NOT_READY`, `CHAIN_NOT_ENABLED`, `NOT_ENABLED`, `*_UNAVAILABLE`). Retry later; do not treat it as an empty answer.
