# Distinct combinations of categorical filter values

Returns the distinct combinations of the requested categorical columns observed in the data (with per-combination row counts, most rows first). Use it to build dependent filter pickers and non-empty default selections. A `null` value in a combination means the column is unpopulated for those rows — filter with `__null__` to select them.

## Query parameters

- `columns` string, required: Comma-separated categorical column names to combine (categorical columns and, when present, `demographic`).
- `detail` string, nullable: Detail level (defaults to the topic default).
