# Describes a public key

`GET /keys/{publicKey}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://genhttp.dev/api/v1`
- URL: `https://genhttp.dev/api/v1/keys/{publicKey}`
- Auth: none declared

Never refused: a key that cannot be claimed is answered with `valid: false` and the `reason`, as a page checking a
key while it is typed needs. A key that is free now may be taken by the time a lambda is created with it.

## Path parameters

- `publicKey` string, required

## Response `200`

What anybody may know about the key

- KeyResponse: Everything anybody may know about a public key.
  - `PublicKey` string: The key as it would be stored: trimmed and lower cased
  - `Valid` boolean: Whether it is spelled as a key may be: 3 to 40 characters of a-z, 0-9 and dashes, not starting or ending with a dash
  - `Available` boolean: Whether a new lambda could be created with it right now
  - `Exists` boolean: Whether a lambda has it
  - `Deployed` boolean: Whether that lambda is online
  - `Reason` string, nullable: Why it cannot be claimed, where it cannot - spelling, a reserved name, a key kept for the demos

## Other responses

- `204`: A response containing no body
