# Pin a project (legacy star alias)

`POST /projects/{id}/star`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://app.gc.ai/api/external/v1`
- URL: `https://app.gc.ai/api/external/v1/projects/{id}/star`
- Auth: API key in header `Authorization`
- TypeScript: <https://skmtc.dev/gc-ai/apis/gc-ai-external-api/docs/projects/:id/star/post.ts> (a function with typed inputs; its response is checked against the schema)

> **Deprecated.**

Deprecated: use POST /projects/{id}/pin instead. Pin a project to the calling user's sidebar. Idempotent. Pinning is per-user state (each user has their own pinned set), so it requires a user-scoped key (`u:gcai_...`). Org-scoped keys carry no user identity and receive 422.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, uuid, required: The project ID

## Response `204`

Project pinned (idempotent, repeat calls are no-ops)

## Other responses

- `401`: Missing or malformed API key
- `403`: Invalid API key
- `404`: Project not found or access denied
- `422`: Pinning requires a user-scoped key
- `429`: Rate limit exceeded. See [Rate Limits](https://docs.gc.ai/api-reference/concepts/rate-limits) for the tiers, limits, and how to back off.
- `500`: Internal server error
- `503`: Service temporarily unavailable
