# Create a call

`POST /channels/{channel_id}/calls`

## Request

Creates a call in Front.

## Path parameters

- `channel_id` string, required

## Request body

- union
  - object
    - `external_call_id` string, required: Stable identifier for this call in the provider system.
    - `initial_status` 'queued' | 'ringing', required
    - `direction` 'inbound', required: Use `inbound` with required `from` (external party); use `outbound` with required `to` (callee).
    - `from` CallParty, required
      - `handle` string, required: Party identifier compatible with the application channel contact type.
      - `name` string: Optional display name for the party.
    - `started_at` number: Optional Unix timestamp (ms) when the call started.
    - `parent_external_call_id` string, required: External ID of the parent call (e.g. where the call was transferred from). This will be used to thread the call into an existing conversation with a matching parent call ID.
    - `agent_email_address` string: Optional email of the teammate associated with the call.
