# Update application message template

`PATCH /channels/{channel_id}/application_message_templates/{external_id}`

## Request

Update an application message template that already exists in Front.

## Path parameters

- `channel_id` string, required
- `external_id` string, required

## Request body

- ApplicationMessageTemplateEditBlob
  - `name` string: Name of the message template.
  - `blurb` string: A limited preview of the message template content.
  - `is_disabled` boolean: Whether the message template is enabled for use in the external service.
  - `status_name` string: Either "PENDING", "APPROVED", or "REJECTED". This value helps admins understand why a template may be enabled or disabled in the external service.
  - `variable_mappings` object[]: List of variable mappings
    - `uid` string, required: Value of the variable
    - `name` string, required: Name of the variable
    - `type` string, required: Type of the variable
  - `template_preview` string: Preview of the template

## Response `200`

An application message template

- ApplicationMessageTemplateResponse: Response for an application message template.
  - `template_id` number: ID of the application message template

## Other responses

- `400`: Channel is not an application channel or does not support application message templates.
