# Delete a quote

`DELETE /v1/quotes/{quoteId}`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://api.frihet.io`
- URL: `https://api.frihet.io/v1/quotes/{quoteId}`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-Key`

Delete a quote. Draft quotes are permanently deleted (204).
Non-draft quotes are soft-deleted (cancelled) to preserve VeriFactu
hash chain integrity, returning 200 with the cancelled document body.

## Path parameters

- `quoteId` string, required

## Response `200`

Quote soft-deleted (cancelled). Returned for non-draft quotes.

## Other responses

- `204`: Quote permanently deleted (draft quotes only)
- `401`: Authentication required or invalid API key

- `429`: Rate limit exceeded (100 requests per minute)
- `500`: Internal server error
