# Create a CMS category

`POST /cms/categories`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://next.frase.io/api/v1`
- URL: `https://next.frase.io/api/v1/cms/categories`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-KEY`

Create a FraseCMS category on a site. Pass `parent_id` to nest it under another category.

## Request body

- object
  - `site_id` string, uuid, required: Required. The site to create the category on.
  - `name` string, required: Required. Category name.
  - `description` string, nullable
  - `parent_id` string, uuid, nullable: Optional parent category for nesting.

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation failed
- `401`: Authentication failed
- `404`: Resource not found
- `429`: Rate limited, or the org's monthly brief limit blocked minting the refreshed brief (only the FIRST supersession of a brief is billing-exempt; repeats meter normally)
