# Merge two CMS authors

`POST /cms/authors/{id}/merge`

## Request

- Base URL: `https://next.frase.io/api/v1`
- URL: `https://next.frase.io/api/v1/cms/authors/{id}/merge`
- Auth: API key in header `X-API-KEY`

Re-point the byline and co-author rows from this author onto `merge_into`, then delete this author. Runs as one transaction.

## Path parameters

- `id` string, uuid, required

## Request body

- object
  - `merge_into` string, uuid, required: Required. The author that absorbs this one's posts.

## Response `200`

Authors merged

- object
  - `data` object
    - `merged` string, uuid: The author that was merged and deleted.
    - `into` string, uuid: The surviving author.
  - `request_id` string

## Other responses

- `400`: Validation failed
- `401`: Authentication failed
- `404`: Resource not found
- `429`: Rate limited, or the org's monthly brief limit blocked minting the refreshed brief (only the FIRST supersession of a brief is billing-exempt; repeats meter normally)
