# Delete a media asset

`DELETE /v1/workspace/assets/{asset_id}`

Remove an asset from the workspace and delete its stored file.

Use this to clear an upload that never completed: the asset row is created when the upload URL is reserved, so a transfer that failed leaves a listed asset whose bytes are missing, and every render referencing it fails to download. Deleting an asset does NOT rewrite stored projects or past renders that name its URL; those will fail until the element is repointed.
